Iran May Be More About Saudi Arabia than Israel

There is a broad spectrum of narratives out there all centered around the Iran conflict involving Israel and Bibi Netanyahu (or Likud in general) as the main instigator:

  • Israel controls Trump and forced him to enter this conflict in Iran, which will result in American lives sacrificed for Israel.
  • Israel attacked Iran, which forced Trump to counter attack to prevent Iran from attacking American assets, which will result in American lives being sacrificed for Israel.
  • Israel gave Trump faulty intelligence, thus precipitating the attack on Iran, which will result in American lives being sacrificed for Israel.
  • Trump and Israel planned the strike on Iran in order to eliminate the biggest state sponsor of terror in the region, and the US will continue to remain there to ensure stability.

What’s strange about all of the above narratives (and I’m sure I missed some of them) is that they all only involve three players: Israel, Trump, and Iran. But these three players aren’t the only ones at the table because you also have:

  • Saudi Arabia
  • United Arab Emirates
  • Bahrain
  • Qatar
  • Kuwait
  • Jordan
  • Oman

To some degree, all of these nations expressed either disdain for Iranian agression in response to the action or support of the actions taken in the first place.

So, why is everybody focused on Israel? Why do they deserve all of the ire in the region? What I see being brought up more than anything as for the Israeli motivation is the whole “Greater Israel” concept. I’m not going to argue the validity of this as it would be pointless, but I will say that all nations have their own strategic goals, and Israel is only one of them.

Greater Israel

What’s strange about this particular narrative being pushed is that Greater Israel seems to incorporate some of the countries that are supportive of the recent actions - namely Jordan, Kuwait, and parts of Saudi Arabia. So, why is it that these nations support this action if they believe that it will eventually lead to the US to conquer territory in their own countries in support of Greater Israel?

It’s not enough to poke holes in an existing narrative. I have to go a step further, so let me present an alternative. Well, in 2025, President Donald Trump visited three arab nations: Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Qatar. And there, he secured trillions of dollars in investment for the United States. Now, I’ve always viewed Trump as the CEO of the US - focusing on cutting costs and increasing revenue by monetizing assets in order to save our struggling country.

In this case, you could make the argument that the investments into the US was payment for services to be rendered by the US war forces. And furthermore, it seems as if the actions taken served to cut short a bad actor in the region that has been undercutting its neighbors when it comes to supplying energy to the world - in addition to the “chaos premium” it adds to global shipping that travels through the region.

Extrapolating out from there, it seems as if this conflict actually has global and not just regional implications. And as the largest navy in the world, the US is well posititioned to continue on this line of business of sopping up any beligerants that aim to add this kind of “chaos premium” going forward. So why is Donald Trump so confident that countries will continue to pay tariffs even if the supreme court struck them down as a tool that he alone can employ? Well maybe because it’s payment for protection of their countries’ exports and the alternative will be a complete embargo by the largest consumer base in the world?
